Sermon Series Information

Our Current Sermon Series at the 10:50 Worship Service:

Rebuilding?
There's An App For That.

Applications are awesome.

They give directions, recommend movies, organize your contacts, play videos, offer you silly games to play when you're stuck in a waiting room or in line at a grocery store.

But did you know that apps are way older than your phone?
In fact some of those little wonders of the digital revolution are practically Biblical.

Whether you read the Bible in print, on line or with the Bible app on your phone
Scripture is chock full of apps. Biblical applications are the blueprints
God's given us as instructions for building our lives.

For the next several months Pastor George Fisk will lead our in-depth study
of this Master plan for rebuilding. We’re so glad you’ve joined us for the beginning of this special series! And we hope to see you back here again soon.

The No Complaining Rule January 2010

Sundays at worship in church should feel like a healthy dose of Christmas, New Year’s Eve & Easter all injected into the start of each new week. We’re here to build each other up & share the power of the love of God every day. We hope you’ll jump start the new year with us at White Rock as Pastor George Fisk investigates the biblical principles behind the concepts in Jon Gordon’s leadership book “The No Complaining Rule”. You’ll learn how these practical life principles are based on Jesus’ approach to problem solving, hear simple, effective answers and be reminded where the power for making real, lasting, positive change can be found.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about having the courage to choose to see the good one day at a time, one choice at a time, over and over again.
Have you had a spiritual check up recently? Scripture calls us to examine ourselves for evidence of God’s presence in our hearts. For the next few weeks you’re invited to join us in the examination process as we check up on the levels of these essential spiritual Vital Signs: Life, Light & Love.
Let's be honest, the call to love can be a royal pain. Helping out a friend isn't always convenient and listening to the problems of a neighbor in need can take away from our work out time, interrupt a favorite TV program or just simply tax our nerves. Yet we know it's the right thing to do.
Did you realize that many of the challenges faced by those of us living in Dallas today were similarly encountered by members of the church in Corinth, to whom Paul addressed the letters which later became the New Testament books 1st & 2nd Corinthians? In his new sermon series Let Love Rule Pastor George will guide us through these letters and show us that they could just have well been addressed to some of the people on today's daytime talk shows.
This series featured biblical guidance for all the relationships in our lives. CD recordings of each of these inspiring messages are available, just request yours at the church office. If you are looking to strengthen one or more of the key relationships in you life, this is a great place to start.
If life is a highway, your soul is your vehicle.
Some people also seem to think that a church is a car wash, a place where functioning souls get scrubbed up once in a while. We here at WRUMC take issue with that. Christ doesn’t do surface rinses. In fact, you don’t even have to be functioning to roll on in. Christianity is about rebuilding from the ground up, salvaging pieces from a junkyard, making them new and then keeping a network of fellow drivers to help maneuver the twists, turns and traffic of the road ahead [...and, occasionally, singing along with the radio at the top of our lungs]. Starting April 19th Rev. George Fisk elaborated on what’s really involved in this transformational process with a sermon series called The King’s High Way.
In our 2009 Lenten Sermon Series, 24, Pastor George focused on the events that took place in the 24 hours leading up to the crucifixion of Christ. This six-week series was a meaningful and thought-provoking way to help you feel closer to God as we prepare ourselves for the excitement of a wonderful Easter celebration. If you missed a sermon CD copies are available in the church office. Just ask Andrea.
'Questions Thoughtful Atheists Raise' Available on CD!

If you find it hard to believe in a loving God because many Christians today insist that science is wrong and claim the bible should replace science taught in the classroom, or you've heard that God encourages war and fundamentalist faiths of all types seem to foster hate, or you simply cannot fathom that a God who would bring suffering into human lives is good, then this is the sermon series for you!

Pastor George believes in God. But he also believes that atheists raise some legitimate questions which deserve to be thoughtfully considered. For several weeks he be addressed these questions in our 10:50 am Sunday Services. If you were unable to join us on this intllectual (and spiritual) journey but would like an audio copy on CD, please let us know.
