People Helping People

White Rock UMC partners with the city of Dallas twice a year during June and October for a three-week period to help spruce up the home of one of elderly neighbors. Volunteers offer light housework, minor home repairs, and touch-up painting.

Bring your tools and cleaning supplies and show up ready to serve!

Holiday Toy Drive

Each year White Rock UMC takes part in the Community Partners of Dallas Holiday Toy Drive. Community Partners of Dallas provides gifts for some of the 4,000 children involved in the Child Protective Services system in Dallas County.

In 2006, White Rock Methodist Church collected over 800 toys to brighten the faces of 500 children on Christmas.

Volunteers were overwhelmed with the amount of gifts collected for the children.

Community Partners of Dallas operates six programs, all designed to assist the caseworkers of Dallas County Child Protective Services in providing the resources and support to the families that they work with to reduce the risk or even eliminate child abuse and neglect.

White Rock Center of Hope

The White Rock Center of Hope provides emergency aid and other services for residents in the East Dallas area. White Rock UMC has a long-standing tradition of supporting this organization through volunteer hours, monthly food donations, and regular monetary donations.

Project Transformation

Project Transformation is a program of the North Texas Conference that provides summer day camps and after school programming for children in under-served communities in the Dallas area. Each summer, White Rock UMC partners with a group from one of the sites and provides reading volunteers for the week. In 2006, White Rock UMC members put in over 100 hours of volunteer reading time! What a blessing to both the children and members.
